Frequently asked questions

*What do you mean by unlimited support hours?

We don’t time hours related to basic sitecare, maintenance and security. If there’s a problem, we work on it until it’s fixed, period, at no extra cost to you.

Technical support hours do not cover the following:

  • Troubleshooting or setting up email, especially free services like gmail. Please read that sentence again!
  • Hosting problems, including billing. Unless you’ve set up an account with Flywheel or SiteGround on our recommendation or purchased hosting through us, you’ll need to contact your hosting provider for technical support.
  • Anything related to design or development, whether that’s graphics or custom WordPress work. Yearly sitecare contracts include a limited number of design & development hours. If you need more design and/or development hours, or you don’t have your own in-house team, you can purchase hours separately.
  • Lost passwords. All yearly contracts include LastPass Premium as a free gift so that you can manage your passwords efficiently and securely. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with LastPass and use it consistently.
  • Data entry. In other words, we don’t type anything but code. If you need copywriting, copy editing, and/or proofreading, please set up a consultation. We have professional copywriters available for most of your needs.
What if I need extra functionality not offered in my plan?

You may order extra functionality, such as online courses or events booking, a la carte. But keep in mind, once you start selling something, you are a small business and no longer an individual. You may be charged accordingly and may need to upgrade to a more comprehensive plan.

What do you mean by design & development hours?

Design & development hours include anything creative — logotypes, photos, or new graphic elements — and anything that introduces new functionality to your site — complex data collection, forms, bookings and events, membership sites, and online courses.

We’re happy to help you add services, however. Some plans include advanced features provided by premium plugins.

Why do I need to schedule a consultation for a yearly contract?

A year is a long time, and the price of a yearly contract is not an insignificant amount of money.

We want to be sure we understand what you need, and that you understand what you’re getting.

In general, our yearly contracts provide a greater value compared to a monthly subscription.

What forms of payment do you accept?

At this time, we only accept PayPal. We will be adding other forms of payment in the future.

What happens when my subscription expires?

That's a very good question!

Monthly subscriptions continue indefinitely and you are billed automatically every month until you manually cancel via PayPal. You will need to find the agreement and cancel it in your PayPal account.

No matter when you cancel, all plugins, themes, and software included in your package are yours to keep. Some of our core plugins, however, such as the image optimization plugin, for example, will stop working because they are no longer authorized.

Other plugins that do not require authorization will continue to function. However, you will not be able to upgrade them to newer versions unless you renew your subscription. They will essentially be frozen at whatever version number they are at when your subscription expired. This means, not only do you miss out on new features, but new versions may introduce incompatibilities or security issues which we can't address unless you renew.

Before you cancel, please contact us via Slack so we can sort everything out for you.

Yearly sitecare contracts do not renew automatically. You must manually renew a yearly support contract, and 90% of our clients do!

How secure is my payment and personal information?

See that little green padlock on the left in your browser’s address bar? That means our site is secure. All information you submit is encrypted and can’t be intercepted by a third party. Further, we do not share your personal information with any third party, ever.

When will I be billed?

Your subscription will start as soon as you make a payment via PayPal, which happens immediately after clicking that Pay Now! button. 🙂

What happens when I subscribe?

As soon as we receive payment confirmation, we will ask for the login credentials for your WordPress site.

We will then immediately begin installing software, including the essential WordPress Premium Firewall. We will then run various tests to determine what sort of optimizations your site needs.

Most importantly, we will send a link to your personal customer portal where you can find out all about the work we’re doing and what it’s all about. Your portal will contain a wealth of reference materials on WordPress maintenance, security, and design.

How will we communicate?

We require all our customers to install Slack, a fun and very efficient team collaboration app available for iOS, Android, Mac, Windows, and Linux. There’s also a web application.

Slack is the fastest way to get our attention, and you can also meet the other Monsters there, as well as our other clients.
